FOR THE COLONIES

Mr. Risley hears from the Privy ouncil

Office that this Petition for leave to appeal

is down for Friday next. He considers that as it

is a capital case and raises important issues

the Govt. of H. Kong should be represented at the

hearing of the Petition. Will you please instruct

your Solicitors accordingly.

1

I send you the papers in original. You will

see that we have asked the Appellant's Solicitors

for a copy of the Petition but have not yet re-

ceived it. Messrs. Sutton Ommanney and Rendall

had better get a copy of the Petition direct

from them.
